Liquid
distributors

Liquid
distributors are the most important equipment for packed columns. The
high
separation performance of structured packings is only achieved with
high-precision
liquid distributors. Through years Montz has acquired the know-how
necessary
to design efficient liquid distributors. |

Advantages of Montz-Liquid distributors |
Distributing
uniformity: deviations between the individual drip points less than 5% guaranteed, mostly less than 3% Numbers of drip
points:70 to >250 per m2 (depending on application and liquid load) Liquid loads:
depending on the designof the distributor <0.1 to >250 m3/m2/h (distributors for 20 litres/m2/h have been successfully applied e.g. distillation of glycerine) Flexibility:
standard turn down ratio 1:3(higher ranges of loading – e.g. 1:10 and more – are achievable by using multi-stage distributors) Design know-how
for viscous liquids Diameter:
Distributor for diameters from 70 mm to 12 m and bigger. The same
principle of design for diameters from 200 mm to >12 m. Liquid feeding
by pre-distribution systemadapted to therespective application. Contamination:
Designs which areinsensitive to dirt and in particular to sedimentable impurities. Simple
adjustability by standard fitter’s tools. Solid fixing at
the column wall. Assembly and
inspection of theliquid distributors through manholes for columns from DN 800. In smaller columns assembly is effected through shell flanges. |

Quality Assurance |
All liquid distributors manufactured by Montz are subject to a quality test with water on our test facilities. The water test is free of additional costs and executed before shipment. The following is an integral part of quality and performance test: |
Quality of
manufacture Tightness Distribution
accuracyThe distribution accuracy is determined on basis of the flow from the individual drip points. Throughput and
operating rangeThe test is performed in the presence of the customer. For each distributor a test report is issued. |
Julius Montz has test equipment available from two to eight meter diameter in a separate building. Distributors exceeding eight meter dia. will be tested in the open air on a test bench installed for this purpose. The test benches are provided with pumps featuring a capacity of 2000 m3/h of liquid. The set-up is equipted with suspension and levelling elements also used in the columns. |

Liquid distributors Type S
The patented liquid distributor Type S is suitable for extremely small sprinkling densities. The special design enables a high density of drip points,so that the packing surface is completely wetted even with small amounts of liquid. |
| Channel-type distributor Type S The basic design of the Montz channel-type liquid distributor Type S is the tried and trusted Montz modular system. The standard drain tubes have additional drainage sleeves so that the liquid flows from each tube is split into a number of small individual flows. The design enables drip point densities of at least 100 per m2 for even small amounts of liquid. |

Combination distributors
Combination distributors serve as liquid collectors and distributors.Chimneys with covers ensure the passage of the rising vapour and the collection of the liquid. The packings are fed with the liquid through holes or drain tubes. |

Tubular distributors
The tubular distributors consist of a centrally arranged main tube with secondary tubes laterally arranged at right angle. The liquid is feed into the main tube. The distributor is fixed at a support inside the column. Each of the lateral tubes is exactly adjustable. Assembly is effected through manholes or via shell flanges. |
