Montz Test Facility
Proving new ideas

Development and quality assurance are key elements of the Montz corporate principles. Providing these guidelines to our customers, different test stands are available in our main research facility:

Air/Water test facility
gives the possibility to test all mass transfer internals for distillation towers in the later diameter.
In the past Thormann®, sieve, tunnel, dual flow, and valve trays for rectification and reactive distillation towers were tested in different configurations.
The construction presents one- and multi-pass tray design with standard, multi-cordal and high capacity downcomers.
Also deentrainment elements for improved tray capacity, structured packing tests and flashbox setups were carried out in the past.

The following measurements are possible
 -   pressure drop
 -   hold-up
 -   operating rang
 -   entrainment
 -   distributed bubbling regime
 -   backup in downcomers
 -   liquid height on tray decks
 -   gasification ratio
 -   heat transfer quantity and coefficient

Performance data
 -   tray diameter up to 9.000 mm (30 ft)
     in sections
 -   tray diameter up to 3.000 mm (10 ft)
     for full tray cross section
 -   liquid rate up to 600 m³/h (2.640 gpm)
 -   gas rate up to 50.000 Nm³/h (29.430 ft³/min)



Liquid distributor test facility
All liquid distributors manufactured by Montz are subject to a thorough testing procedure on our test stands.
Maximum and minimum flows are tested as well as any other loading on customer’s request. The final test report will show these flows along with the measured quality of distribution.
These tests can also be performed in the customer’s presence.

     and 2.000 mm (26 ft / 6.5 ft)
 -   liquid rate up to 2.000 m³/h
     (8.800 gpm)

The new step in high-perfomance packing

The further improved high-performance packing continues the success of Montz structured packings in the chemical and process industry.

High performance style packings are now available as

    metal sheet structured packing
           B1-250MN
           B1-350MN
           B1-500MN

4Montz-Pak Type A3-M
    wire gauze structured packing
           A3-500M

4Montz-Pak Type BS-MN
    expanded metal sheet structured packing
           BS-250MN
           BS-350MN
           BS-500MN

for the equivalent applications compared to standard packing types.

The patented corrugation (US6,783,119) offers lower pressure drop, higher capacity and reduced investment cost due to smaller column diameters as requested by our customers needs.

The existing, tried-and-trusted Montz-Pak Type M is not replaced but completed with its packing types
