Liquid distributors are the most important construction element for separation columns equipped with structured packings. The high separation efficiency of structured packings is only achieved with liquid distributors providing very precise liquid distribution accuracy.
Gas and steam distributors are used to achieve a uniform flow over the entire column cross-section.
Liquid catchers are positioned between two packing sections. The sprinkling liquid from the top packing bed is collected by the liquid catcher tray and is redirected from here to a distribution tray to feed the bottom packing bed.
Flash-Boxes are used at a column feed location for overheated feed. In this case, flashing vapor is formed at the feeding location, which would impede the liquid distributor’s function without flash boxes.
Support systems support structured packings.
