Rib Mesh Packing Type BSH
High performance packing for thermal mass exchange
BSH packings combine the essential features and properties of sheet metal packings and fabric packings in one packing type. The patented surface structure is an outstanding characteristic of the BSH packing. It consists of rhomboidal openings with alternatively crimped edges. This structure results in an exceptional and uniform wetting of smallest as well as large liquid loads. Turbulences caused by the crimped edges of the openings create a continuous mixing of the liquid film on the packing surface.
Properties:
- Large capacities and flexibility
- Good wettability and therefore optimum contact areas between gas and liquid
- High separation performance, close to capacity limits
- Liquid loads 0.02 to more than 150 m³/(m² h)
- Low pressure drop
- Solutions for every separation problem through variable, specific surfaces
Applications:
- Vacuum columns
- Atmospheric columns
- Absorption
- Natural gas drying
- Refinery columns
- Petrochemical columns
- Waste water strippers
- Separation columns for chemical industry
- Columns for dealcoholization of beer
- Retrofits of existing plate columns or stacked columns for performance improvements
Column data:
- Diameter ca. 20 mm up to 11 m and larger
- Liquid loads from 40 l/(m² h)
- Operating pressures from vacuum to over 100 bar
- Minimum liquid hold-up

Separation steps:
- Depending on type, >8 separation steps pro meter are achieved.
Inclination angles of wave channels:
- Standard version with 45°
- 60° for larger liquid throughputs and direct heat exchangers in condensation beds
Materials:
- Stainless steels such as 1.4000, 1.4301, 1.4404, 1.4571, 1.4435, and 1.4539
- C-steel
- Hastelloy C4, C22, C276, etc.
- Aluminium, Copper, Titanium, Monel, Tantalum a.o.
- Additional materials are available upon request.
Assembly:
- Packings are manufactured as single pieces or in segments. Packing installation is done through column shell flanges or manholes, as desired.
